Pupil Parliament November 2022

Debating at Nottingham County Hall

Two of our wonderful school council members Eviee and Connor had the opportunity to debate with other schools at Nottingham County Hall.

The children sat in the main council debating chamber and discussed democracy and the workings of local government and parliament. They practised debates such as – ‘Do cats or dogs make the best pets?’ and ‘Should school uniform be compulsory? – eventually voting on the school uniform question by leaving the chamber, as happens in parliament ( a majority voted in favour of uniform!).

This was all preparation for the next visit to pupil parliament when the children will debate issues that have been raised back in their schools – hopefully passing a resolution that schools can follow.

The two year 6's represented our school wonderful and are eagerly anticipating the next debate!
