World Book Day 2024

World Book Day in Year 3

Today was World Book Day!

The theme this year was ‘Bedtime Stories’ and we invited children to come into school wearing PJs, onesies, dressing gowns or in a costume of a character from their favourite bedtime story.  They looked wonderful and thoroughly enjoyed the experience!

During the day, the children took part in two activities related to the teacher's favourite bedtime story- why not ask your children about the activities they took part in? The children also took part in a bedtime Story Competition this afternoon where they decorated a star with the title of the book, author and drawings which give clues about the characters/ setting/ plot.

The two bedtime stories we looked at included: 'The King who banned the Dark' by Emily Haworth-Booth (please see below for videos and an audiobook).

and What will you dream tonight? by Frances Stickley & Anuska AllepuzWhat Will You Dream of Tonight? | (nosycrowaudio.com)

Very shortly, there will be a winner voted for each class after WBD by their classes. Winners receive a £5 book voucher!

Just a gentle reminder, our school council is looking to do a book swap later in the term, so if you have any unwanted books that you’ve finished reading and would like to donate, please bring them during this week!
