I wish I was a .... good speaker!

Our Literacy lesson today for the Year 1 members of the Polar Bear class was to learn how to be a good speaker.

It started off with me reading the children the story I Wish I Were a Pilot by Stella Blackstone. The children then told me what a bad job I had done as it wasn't very interesting. I had made it sound really boring and  I hadn't looked at them when I was reading. I had used a voice that they couldn't hear and that I didn't change my volume level all the way through. I hadn't used any actions or even given the impression I was enjoying reading the story. What harsh critics!

Obviously I had done this for a reason and it was amazing to hear all the ideas the children gave me in order to make myself a better speaker! They then had a go and did a mini performance using some of the skills needed to speak out loud to others. See below!
