e-safety for parents at Heymann

Full CalendarMain Events

This event will take place between 6:30pm and 7:30pm on 24/01/2017

HEYMANN SCHOOL, SWITHLAND DRIVE, WEST BRIDGFORD, NOTTINGHAM, NG2 7UN

Do you know what your children are up to on their web-connected devices?

Do they have all the settings at the right level?

Do you know the dangers of the different apps and platforms to highlight to your children?

Over the last few years schools within our Trust, have a number of incidents related to e-safety that happen outside school, but which we support through school. We’ve had incidents of sexting (sending inappropriate images to others), accepting requests from unknown users that have ended up in inappropriate material being sent in messages, attempts at grooming, online abuse.

Our children are trustworthy and sensible, but still need to be aware of what to check when online.

Many of our children are on musical.ly, which is a great way to share fun videos with friends, but also has very inappropriate material just a few clicks away- were you aware of this?

We invite you to come along to our e-safety evening where the Nottinghamshire e-safety and anti-bullying lead will be taking us through the main areas for concern, including cyberbullying, sexting, grooming  including grooming for radicalisation the potential dangers and how to guard against them as well as how to initiate conversations with your children to support them.

Tuesday 24th January 6:30 (around an hour) Heymann KS1 Hall

If you are planning to attend, please take the time to fill in the online form (link below) so we can make sure we have enough seats out. http://www.heymann.notts.sch.uk/form/?pid=104&form=30
