What a fantastic start we’ve had to Year 3! Although we began the week with a few worried faces, we’ve quickly grown in confidence as we’ve settled into our new routines and expectations.
To kick off the week, we spent time getting to know one another and exploring what life in Year 3 will be like. We also discovered our class name and learnt about our significant individual, Georgia O’Keeffe, whose vibrant artwork has inspired our first creative project.
Using our sketching techniques, we created zoomed in flower and petal designs, which now brighten up the entrance to our classroom with a beautiful gallery of colour and creativity. Here’s just a few of our beautiful sketches:

In Maths, we’ve started our Place Value unit. Don’t forget: DoodleMaths is a great way to support your child’s learning at home, and any assignments added will help reinforce what we’re doing in class.

In Literacy, we’ve begun exploring action stories. By the end of this half term, we’ll be innovating and retelling our own version of Jack and the Beanstalk — exciting adventures await!
In Geography, we’ve launched our first unit on Extreme Weather. We’ve discussed what it is, looked at examples, and explored where in the world these events occur.
In Science, our unit is called “Animals Including Humans”. We’ve started by learning how living things get their energy and what food groups are essential for a healthy diet.
