What a fabulous start to the year we have all had!
The children are settling well into routines and are getting used to being back in school and following our Keyworth Code.
Here are some of the lovely things we have done over the last fortnight…
Library trip
Thank you again to our lovely, wonderful parent helpers for making this visit possible! It was lovely to get out of school for an hour and explore our local library.
Talk 4 Writing
Our new Talk For Writing text is all about Billy the Brave Knight – so we have been learning all about knights!
The children will learn this story by heart with actions and then write their own stories all about going on a quest or journey!
Here are the children enjoying playing knights at the start of our English unit!
Science
In Science this half term, we are learning all about plants!
In Year 2 last week, we planted our own! We put them into different conditions to see which plants will grow best!
Maths
We have been learning about place value in our maths lessons. We have been making part whole diagrams and seeing how we can split different numbers and understand how we can make them using different parts. You can help your child at home by practicing making some of these diagrams!
CEW words
Finally, we will be sending home some common exception words for the children to practice at home. These are words that cannot be spelt or read using phonics, so the children must learn to read and spell them separately.
T L 5469 Common Exception Words Assessment Year 2 Ver 5
We are offering prizes for children who can read and spell them all so get practicing! Let us know when you think they have done it!
