We’ve had a really busy week in Y6!

Anti-bullying week

It’s been anti-bullying week this week and Y6 have been thinking about how to be kind to each other. We started by thinking of different ways we could be kind and then we had a look at some words associated with kindness. Y6 were then challenged to do an act of kindness for someone else before the end of the week. They did lots of lovely things like helping others and sharing belongings with siblings.

Christmas

We have started to learn the songs for our Christmas performance and as one of the songs is from ‘The Grinch’, Y6 are being asked to dress up as Grinches! No need to buy a fancy dress costume, anything red and green will be great. Please send your child’s costume in a named bag before Thursday 27th November.

Creative writing

Y6 have entered a creative writing competition called ‘Give Nature a Voice’ and it’s being run by ‘The Natural Curriculum’. The children had to watch a nature video about penguins but there was no narration. Their challenge was to do a piece of writing based on the video. They could do whatever style of writing they liked, as long as it was linked to the video. Some of them chose to do fact files, some did diary entries from the perspective of the penguins and we even had a few poems. Have a look at our lovely work below:
