Year 1 took part in Children’s Mental Health Week, which began on Monday 2nd February. This year’s theme was Belonging, inspired by Place2Be. Throughout the week, the children explored what it means to feel part of a group whether in class, at home, or in the wider community and how we can help others feel included and valued. What did we do in school?

🌱 An Assembly

The children joined a special assembly focused on belonging, kindness, and the small actions that help everyone feel part of something bigger.

✏️ Class Activities

In class, we discussed:

– what it means to belong

– how we can help others feel like they belong

– how belonging feels in different scenarios

The children created their own islands, where they could take things that would help them feel calm and safe.

On Thursday, all year groups enjoyed a full day of mindfulness and relaxation.

This was led by Gongs by Julia, who guided the children through calming, sensory experiences designed to support emotional regulation and wellbeing. It was a wonderfully peaceful experience.
