We had a wonderful World Book Day in school this year! πŸŽ‰ We began with an exciting assembly celebrating non- fiction and the knowledge we gain.

All children took part in a rich variety of activities linked to factual textsβ€”from history and science to art, geography, and world cultures. They loved discovering new information, asking thoughtful questions, and exploring how reading helps us make sense of the world around us.

It was also a brilliant reminder that reading comes in many forms. A shopping list, a recipe, a game of Top Trumps, or even flicking through the Guinness Book of Recordsβ€”πŸ“˜βœ¨ it all counts as reading! There are so many genres and text types for children to enjoy every day.

🌎 Year 3’s Focus: Flags Around the World

In Year 3, our non‑fiction project centred on flags from around the world. The children explored different designs, colours, and symbols, investigated their meanings, and learned key facts about the countries they represent. They then chose a flag to recreate and some even designed their very own flag! ✨

This is the book we referred to:

Their curiosity, creativity, and enthusiasm made this project a real highlight of the day.

🎭 Wonderful Costumes

A huge thank you to everyone for the brilliant costumes! The children loved sharing their costumes and books, and it was a joy to see the effort and creativity that went into each outfit. 🌟
