We have been exploring a new text called The Canal in Literacy, which is about two boys who are warned by Mrs Mac not to go near the canal. Despite this warning, they choose to ignore her advice.

To help us get into the mindset of warning stories, we took part in our literacy hook today by visiting the school pond. While we were there, we discussed the kinds of warnings someone might give us and identified the possible dangers, such as deep water, slippery edges, hidden pond plants, cold temperatures, and the risk of falling in. We then designed our own warning poster based on our experience. This experience will help us understand the purpose of warnings and will feed into our own story writing later in the half term.
