This week in Early Years, we are exploring two exciting “big idea” questions:

🗺️ What is a map?
🍎 Where does our food come from before it gets to our plate?

To help bring these questions to life, we’ll be sharing some great stories with the children and using them as a starting point for discussion and discovery. 📚✨

We’ll also be looking closely at food packaging to find out where different foods come from, and using Google Earth to see just how far some of our food has travelled before reaching us 🌍🚚

As part of our learning, we’ll be heading out on a local walk around Keyworth 🚶‍♀️. The children will be spotting familiar places and making connections between what they see in real life and what they can find on Google Maps… Helping them understand how maps represent the world around us 🏡🗺️

Here are the books we will be sharing with the children 📖😊

📦 We have so many cardboard boxes- thank you so much! The children love using them at the make & do table. If you have any yoghurt pots or other smaller containers at home, we would really appreciate any donations to add to our collection.

🚶‍♀️ We are currently struggling to facilitate our local walk and trip to the library on Tuesday 28th April. If anyone is available to help us (approximately 1:10–2:45), we would be very grateful for your support!

☀️ As the weather is getting warmer, please ensure your child brings a named sunhat and a named water bottle to school each day.

Thank you as always for your continued support 💛
