Our School Council has been working incredibly hard recently, meeting regularly to share ideas and make a real difference to school life. It has been fantastic to see everyone contributing thoughtfully and showing a genuine passion for improving our school community. Here’s a little update on what we’ve been focusing on!

🎤 Improving Our Assemblies

One of our biggest discussion topics has been assemblies. As a council, we all agreed that assemblies are an important part of the school day, but they can always be made even better!

We have been sharing ideas on:

  • How assemblies can be more engaging and interactive
  • Ways to include more pupil voice in what is presented
  • Different themes that reflect what we care about as a school community

Some of the suggestions that have come out of our discussions include:

  • Introducing pupil-led assemblies, where children can share their own experiences or interests
  • Adding more interactive elements, such as quizzes or questions for everyone to think about
  • Including topics that are relevant to us, such as significant individuals, wellbeing and kindness.

It’s been brilliant to see so many creative ideas, and we’re excited to start sharing them in future assemblies!

💡 Choosing Meaningful Topics

As well as improving how assemblies are delivered, we have also been thinking carefully about what we want to talk about. School Council members felt strongly that assemblies should reflect things that matter to pupils.

Some of the key topics we would like to explore include:

  • Looking after our mental health and wellbeing
  • Learning about environmental responsibility

By choosing topics that feel meaningful and relevant, we hope assemblies will feel more inspiring and enjoyable for everyone.

🚶‍♀️ Getting Ready for National Walk to School Week

Another exciting focus for our School Council has been preparing for National Walk to School Week! This is a fantastic opportunity for us all to get active, reduce traffic, and make a positive impact on the environment.

We have been busy discussing ways to:

  • Encourage as many pupils as possible to take part
  • Raise awareness about the benefits of walking to school
  • Make the week fun and motivating for everyone

From planning promotional ideas to sharing reminders with our classes, the council has been full of enthusiasm! We hope to even feature in a video to promote this!

🌟 Looking Ahead

We are really proud of the progress we’ve made so far. The School Council is all about listening, sharing, and making positive changes, and it’s clear that everyone is committed to making our school the best it can be.

We can’t wait to see our ideas come to life – especially in assemblies and during Walk to School Week!

Keep an eye out for more updates coming soon… and remember, your voice matters!
