This week, Year 4 had an exciting and action-packed science session that was definitely vlog-worthy! We were lucky to welcome a special science teacher from South Wolds, as well as some science leaders from Year 10, who helped us run some amazing experiments.

πŸ§ͺ Special Visitors

Our visitors brought lots of enthusiasm and cool ideas. The Year 10 science leaders were fantastic role models, showing us how science gets even more interesting as you get older. They helped guide us through different activities and explained the science behind everything we did.

πŸ’₯ Mentos and Coke Explosion Test

One of the highlights of the day was the Mentos and Coke experiment. We tested different setups to see which reaction would create the highest fizzy explosion!

  • We dropped Mentos into bottles of Coke
  • Then we stood back and watched as the fizzy reaction blasted into the air
  • We compared results to see which combination worked best

It was messy, exciting, and a great way to learn about chemical reactions and gases!

✈️ Paper Airplane Investigation

Next, we put our engineering skills to the test by making paper airplanes.

  • We used different types of paper (thick, thin, light, and heavy)
  • We folded them carefully into different designs
  • Then we tested which planes flew the furthest and most accurately

This helped us understand how materials and design affect flight.

πŸ” Fingerprint Fun

Finally, we became detectives and explored fingerprint transfers.

  • We used ink and powder to reveal fingerprints
  • We tested how fingerprints can be transferred onto different surfaces
  • We discovered that everyone has unique fingerprints

It was fascinating to see our own prints up close and learn how they can be used in real-life investigations.

🌟 What We Learned

This brilliant science session helped us:

  • Understand reactions and gases
  • Explore how materials affect results
  • Discover how science can be used in real-world jobs

🎬 Final Thoughts

Year 4 had an amazing time learning through hands-on experiments. A big thank you to the teacher from South Wolds and the Year 10 science leaders for making science so fun and memorable!

We can’t wait for our next vlog adventure! πŸš€
