As part of our Year 2 Science enquiry question, “How are bulbs and seeds different?”, we enjoyed a fantastic outdoor learning session with Tracey from the Keyworth Abundance Team.
Tracey brought along a range of bulbs, including daffodils, crocuses and bluebells. We carefully examined the bulbs, looking closely at their different layers and discussing how they grow.
Before planting, we had an important job to do. Working in small groups, we followed instructions carefully and teamed up to dig out weeds from the flower beds. We then layered the soil and planted the bulbs at different depths so that they will flower at different times throughout the spring.
The children showed excellent teamwork, listening skills and determination as they worked together to transform our school flower beds and pots.

We hope you’ll agree that the front flower beds and pots are now beautifully planted, and we’re very proud that Year 2 played such an important part in making our school look even more colourful and welcoming.
