Dear Parents and Carers,
We are excited to let you know that Year 5 will be going on a trip to The National Coal Mining Museum in Wakefield on Friday 9th October, this follows their current Topic ‘Down the Mines’ where the children have been learning all about the life style of a worker in the mines.
This will be a fantastic opportunity for the children to explore what life was like under the tunnels in mining whilst supporting their learning in their Topic.
Trip Details:
– The trip will take place on the 9th October 2026.
– Departure time: 7:30am (please arrive 15 minutes before due to registration)

– Return time: Between 4:30pm and 5:00pm
(The school office will send an email on the day with a more precise return time.)
What your child will need:
-Wear school uniform.
– A packed lunch including a snack (no glass bottles or fizzy drinks, please)
– A refillable water bottle
– Comfortable shoes for walking
– A coat suitable for the weather/ layers that can be taken off.
Cost:
– The cost of the trip will be £25
– Payment will need to be made by the 8th October 2026 on Arbor.
If your child suffers from travel sickness or any other medical need that requires medication, please let us know in advance and ensure they have what they need on the day.
