Get ready for another exciting week of learning in Foundation!

Our Big Idea Question is:

💻 What are computers used for?

This week, we will be exploring the wonderful world of computers, technology and machines. We will be thinking about how computers help us in our everyday lives and discovering some of the different ways people use technology at home, at school and at work.

📚 We will be enjoying the stories Winnie’s New Computer, Chicken Clicking by Jean Willis and Peppa Pig’s Family Computer. These fun and engaging books will help us think about how technology can be useful, exciting and sometimes a little bit tricky!

🎵 As we come to the end of our half term topic, we will be revisiting all of the songs we have learned over the past seven weeks:

🚌 The Wheels on the Bus
😊 If You’re Happy and You Know It
✈️ Ten Little Aeroplanes
👽 Five Little Aliens in a Flying Saucer
🤖 I’m a Little Robot

We have loved singing these songs together and can’t wait to perform our favourites again!

🏠 We will also be looking at the different machines we use in our homes and how they help us every day. We would love you to join in at home too. Please share any machines or technology you find around your house on Tapestry so that we can look at them together and discuss what they do.

⚙️ The children will be putting their creativity to work by designing and creating their own machines. We are very excited to see their imaginative ideas and discover what amazing jobs their machines can do!

📖 Keep up the fantastic work with reading! We are so proud of the children’s enthusiasm and progress. Don’t forget to record every read in your child’s reading diary and keep collecting those reads towards your Bronze Reading Award. Every read counts!

We can’t wait to share all of our fantastic learning, inventions and discoveries with you. It’s going to be a fun-filled week of exploring, creating and imagining!
