Home Learning Map WB 4.5.20

Hello Sea Lions! This is our home learning map for this week!

Hello Sea Lions,

I hope you are all well and have enjoyed a restful weekend spending time with your families. As mentioned in the Keydale newsletter every Monday each class will be posting a home learning map to help guide learning for the week.

In one of my previous blogs I talked about the government creating some fantastic online resources to help children learn these include: Oak National Academy (http://www.thenational.academy/online-classroom/year-3#subjects) and BBC Bitesize (http://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/levels/zbr9wmn). I will be using these as well as other resources to help guide the children's learning.

As this is the first week of the learning map I thought I'd just provide abit more detail to the tasks...

The home learning map can be found at the bottom of this blog.

Literacy:

I would like the children watch at least two English lessons on the Oak National Academy website and then write a setting description using the resources from Oak National Academy: http://www.thenational.academy/online-classroom/year-3/english#subjects (please see learning map for more information).

Some parents have messaged me about reading resources and these are a few which are fantastic to use:

For spellings please see: http://www.keyworth.notts.sch.uk/blog/?pid=9&nid= 6&storyid=1352

Maths:

Maths tasks this week will be based on data handling (bar charts, line graphs and pictograms). The Maths tasks will be set using the resources we are using currently (Mymaths, Doodle Maths and Timestable Rockstars). I have also made a blog to support this week and next weeks Maths called 'graphs' in this blog you will find a few resources that you might find useful such as worksheets and a slideshow presentation.

Geography, History, Art and Science:

For foundation topics there is a Geography 'rainforest' project, History 'Stone Age' project and an Art project 'Vincent Van Gogh' . All information about these projects can be found on previous blogs and I have posted links to these on the 'learning map' document below. For Science I have based the focus on 'animals' and there is a link to the 'Bitesize' website for the children to access the videos (the children should be great at this because we covered lots of this in our 'Predator' topic!)

Community Project:

It's is VE day this week so Keyworth community are very kindly holding a 'stay at home street party'. I have attached activities and creative bits at the bottom of this blog for you to take part!

Wellbeing:

Listen to the story of The Huge Bag of Worries at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-m6U28oSsWI and make a list of worries and what you can about them with a grown up.

Many families are finding home learning tricky and have emailed me to say that their child has found it difficult to adjust to home learning at some point during the school closure. So if you are feeling overwhelmed, lost or worried please know that you are not alone- we are all just trying our best to get by. The most important thing is that you  stay safe and do what you can using the learning map.

If you have any questions, worries or if  there is something I have written on the home learning map that is confusing you- email me using my class email address and I'll be more than happy to help!

Take care and sending lots of love and positivity,

Miss Fowell xx
