Welcome Back!

Welcome back Year 1! I trust that you have all had a lovely break and are ready for our next half-term.

Our next topic is called Street Detectives, and we will be finding out about our local area. Please find attached the topic letter for more information of the curriculum coverage in this half-term.

Dates for your diaries:

We have got lots of exciting activities planned between now and Christmas, and I am looking for some volunteers to help out with some of these dates.

  • Thursday 10th November (afternoon) - supporting pupils with initial sewing skills
  • Wednesday 17th November (afternoon) - Our local area walk around the village
  • DATE TBC (this will be one afternoon towards the end of November/start of December) - DT afternoon making hand puppets
  • Week beginning 19th December - Baking Christmas cookies

If you are available to support on any of these dates, please get in contact with Mrs Buttery or myself and I will provide more details about timings etc.

Reminders

  • Spellings: I have attached the spelling list for this half-term. Our spelling quiz's will be taken on a Friday. We will start this week with set 6 from autumn 1
  • Reading: please continue to read 3 times a week and sign this off in your child's home-school book. We are still working towards our bronze awards - some of you have already achieved this which is brilliant!
  • Doodle Maths: stay within the green zone on Doodle Maths. Extra challenges are set regularly which are personalised to support your child to reach their next steps.
  • PE: PE will still be taking place on Monday's and Tuesday's.
  • Our class text: We will be reading The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig  as our class text this half-term this story is a twist on the classic tale of the Three Little Pigs.

Shout out!

Towards the end of our science unit, we will be designing and building a strong and waterproof mini shelter for the fourth Little Pig. If you have any cardboard boxes or small plastic recyclables please could you send them my way? Thank you!

As always, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to get in contact.

Enjoy your first week back!

Miss Sturman :)
