Covid-19 Symptoms

Please be especially careful to look out for symptoms given the high numbers of Covd-19 cases across the country at the moment. The main symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) are:

  • a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
  • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
  • a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

Critical Worker Provision

In the government’s most recent update about critical worker provision in school, found here, the following sentence has been added, ‘Children with at least one parent or carer who is a critical worker can go to school or college if required, but parents and carers should keep their children at home if they can.’

I am I no doubt that parents are taking this matter seriously and trying to support us in keeping numbers low in school – this is hugely appreciated. However, in the light of the latest guidance and the data we have all seen over the weekend about Covid-19 cases across the country, please review any days you have booked in school next week and only send your child if he \ she cannot access their learning safely from home.

If you do send your child to school next week, please be assured that we understand this is necessary and we are very happy to support you at this incredibly challenging time for our country. It is my hope that reported cases will fall over the next week or so and that we will no longer have to ask critical workers to be so cautious about sending their children to school.
