Well what a half term that has been! Not quite how we all hoped or wanted to start 2021 but we’ve made it to half term and the commitment and resilience from our children and families has been amazing! The lighter nights are creeping in and hidden under the snow, are the smallest signs that spring is on its way- something to look forward to.

Have a marvellous and restful half term and we will see you either remotely or in person on Tuesday 23rd of February.

INSET Day

Monday 22nd of February is a pre-organised INSET Day. School will be closed to ALL pupils that day and there will be no home learning set. A last chance for a PJ day before learning starts again on Tuesday 23rd of February!

COVID-19 DURING THE HALF TERM BREAK?

Over the first few days of the holiday, schools have been asked to help coordinate Public Health England’s response to any positive cases of Covid-19 amongst school age children.

If your child has a confirmed case of covid-19:

• before or on the 18th^th February, please use this link to let us know: CLICK HERE . We will then contact members of staff and other children who might need to self-isolate.
• after the 18^th February, please follow NHS advice and let us know on the first day back, the 23^rd February, that your child is self-isolating following a positive test result.

Year 6 Leavers’ Hoodies:

If you have a child in Year 6 and would like them to have a KPNS Leavers’ hoodie, please order one on Eduspot School Money in the shop area. You will need to select the size you wish to order. All orders must be in by Friday 5th of March. We CANNOT accept any late orders as they get printed in bulk. Please call Mrs Buttery if you have any questions.

Wider re-opening of school?

We know that the government might soon outline steps about a wider reopening of school after March 8^th. At the moment, this is a provisional date which is being reviewed – it could be moved back if the government feel infection rates remain too high.

As soon as we receive clear government guidance, we will be in touch asap to let you know our plans.

Teacher recruitment at KPNS

Some eagle-eyed parents have asked us about a job advert they have spotted for KPNS. The advert is to recruit a permanent teacher to the team; the current temporary post is currently held by Mrs Hill who was appointed on a temporary basis due to covid-19.

We have had lots of interest in the position including Mrs Hill who is keen to extend her time at KPNS – we will update you with the outcome of the recruitment process later this term

NCC information on social distancing

The school received information from the LA in regards to concerns over social distancing and we would like to draw your attention to this with the summary message below

 

‘There have been increasing reports of children being seen to be mixing outside in the community in local parks and shopping areas as well as visiting other households. The government has made it clear that households should not be mixing during this period, except under certain conditions, including the forming of ‘childcare bubbles’ which should only be with one other household.

 

School staff are understandably worried about the impact of such actions on their own health and safety, as well as the safety of the children within school bubbles. In the absence of any specific guidance on this topic from the government, I would emphasise the importance of parents’ role in keeping children, and the adults who support them, safe during the pandemic.

 

Please adhere to the  current national restrictions and that any breaches by children attending the school will be viewed as jeopardising the health and wellbeing of the school bubble and relevant staff and as such will place them at risk of losing their keyworker/vulnerable child place in school.’
