What has Andersen class been up to?

Andersen's class have been very busy this term with all there learning and have been working extremely hard.

In English, we have been looking at different types of folks tales around the world and using some of their features in our own writing. We have also been identifying speech from our class book The Firework Makers Daughter and using speech in our own writing. This week we have looked at the stereotypes in the book and what they mean. We even hot seated one of the main character.

In Art, we have been practising our sketching and painting skills and used them to paint blossom trees based on the Chinese artist Yang Wujiu. See below all the messy fun they have been having.

In science, we have been learning all about electricity and have put on our lab coats to carried out some scientific investigations to find out how electricity works and what materials are conductors and insulators.

Times tables

I have now given all the children in Andersen class log ins for an app called Ed shed which for those who couldn't attend the meeting last week, it is for children to be practising their timetables with a time limit which is similar to the test they will be doing in June. We have advised that all children in year 4 use this.

I have told them all I expect them to be practising every night, completing at least 3 games (it takes about 5/10 minutes). There will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes each week for children that are showing they are working hard.

Doodles

Just a quick reminder that we do expect children to be in their green zone on Doodle Maths and Doodle Spell each week. Let's see if we can get to the top of the leader board next week. I know we can do it!

As always thank you for your ongoing support with your children learning :)
