Safer Internet Day 2023

Safer Internet Day 2023

Safer Internet Day 2023 will take place on the 7th of February 2023, with celebrations and learning based around the theme ‘Want to talk about it? Making space for conversations about life online’. Schools across the country will be talking about how children should use the internet in a safe and responsible way.

Please watch the short video below and take the time to talk to your children about what they have been learning in school about esafety. I have also included some child-friendly stories about online safety below should you wish to discuss this with your child.

Today in Year 3 in preparation for this event we spoke about online safety this week we focused on one of our ICT curriculum modules called 'isafe'.

We watched videos that demonstrated scenarios based on online safety. We created a list of how we can be safer online this included:

  • Never giving out our password and if we choose a password it should include a variety of numbers, letters and symbols. This should never be written down and shouldn't include our name or year of birth as it is easy to work out.
  • Playing age appropriate games.
  • Never providing details of who we are, where we live and what school we attend to strangers.
  • Never meeting up with strangers.
  • Ensuring we keep our settings private and not public so only our close friends and family can see our profiles.
  •  If we receive a message/pictures of something that upsets us or upsets others we should tell an adult straight away.
  • Using the 'block' button when necessary.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.
