Easter Maths in Year 3

We took part in lots of Easter related maths activities despite the spring rain!

Today Year 4 and 3 joined together for our Easter massive maths!  

Our focus was for children to work as a team and have mathematical discussions. We started the session by heading outside and measuring different types of flowers in cm and looking at the difference in height between them. 

The lovely Miss Waugh  drew some Easter eggs on the playground so that the children could complete the egg and the pattern using symmetry. Unfortunately, this was cut short by the rain (boo!).

We then went off in to mixed groups and some children went with Miss Middleton and had to crack a code by answering a range of four equation questions which gave them a letter to the secret word. The rest of the children worked with me  and we had to find out who ripped the Easter egg by answering a range of different questions.

The children worked extremely well, and we had so much fun even when it rained! Take a look at us in action:
