In June, Year 4 students will be required to take the MTC. The test will occur during the week of 3/6/24. The Thunberg class has already been working extremely hard in preparation.

What is THE MTC CHECK ?

The multiplication tables check (MTC) is statutory for all year 4 pupils. The purpose of the MTC is to determine whether pupils can recall their times tables fluently, which is essential for future success in mathematics. The children will be required to answer 25 timestable seconds and will be given 6 second per question. 

Ed Shed 

To help prepare the children for this, we encourage them to use Edshed, an app where they can practice their times tables under conditions similar to the test. We ask that Year 4 students practice a couple of times each day, as this is crucial to support them in completing the MTC. Students will bring home login details next week, and there will also be an in-class competition each week.

Times table club 

To help support any children who want extra practise, I have started a timetable club at lunch times every Monday and Thursday. Please encourage your child to attend if they need more support.
