Our class text this term

This term we will be continuing to read 'How to train your dragon book 1' by Cressida Cowell. Feel free to purchase a copy if you can.

Here are the school expectations for your child:

- To read at least 3 x a week at home and for home schoolbooks to be signed every week. You could even attend a reading Lair to do this!

- For children to remain in their green zone on doodlemaths and doodlespell (this is approximately 40 minutes every week).

- For children to be beginning to work on their Gold award, but don’t worry if you’re still working on your Silver (these can be found at the back of your child’s homeschool book).

- Checking the class blog regularly to see what we’re doing in school.

- Practice their timetables on edshed each day ( 1 or 2  games daily) to help support the MTC .

Upcoming dates for your diary:

  • Thursday 25th April 2024 - Y4 trip to Perelethorpe for Anglo-saxon and Viking day

Trip to Perlethorpe for Anglo-saxon and Viking day

This trip will help us with our Raiders and traders History topic where we are learning all about the period of the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings and how that impacted Britain.

In the morning, we will be based at our Anglo-Saxon House on the fringes of the Danelaw. We will be transported back to the time when the whisperings of a united England were being spoken by King Alfred. Discover the events of the Saxon invaders and how they settled across the country, through to the fall of the Anglo-Saxons in 1066. Learn about their gods, important leaders, Viking invaders, Danelaw and Wessex village life.

In the afternoon we will dress up as a Viking child and journey to our Long House deep in the woods. Here we will discover where Vikings came from and what happened to the Vikings of Britain. We'll  travel through time from their first arrival in 789 to their demise in 1066.

Children should arrive at school at 8:30am in their school uniform with a waterproof coat, and appropriate shoes. Please bring a packed lunch with a water bottle. Children will catch a coach to and from the venue. Therefore, it is vital that children arrive at school at the appropriate time.

If you still need to pay here, see the link below.
