Mental Health Week in Y3
Welcome to Mental Health Week!
This week, our children have been actively engaging in activities and discussions centered around mental health. As part of our Wellbeing Assembly, we explored the theme of Children's Mental Health Week, which is in association with Here4You and supported by Disney. You can find out more about this initiative here: Place2Be's Children's Mental Health Week - Official site
This Year's Theme: "Know Yourself, Grow Yourself"
The theme for this year's Children's Mental Health Week is "Know Yourself, Grow Yourself." It's a wonderful opportunity for our children to reflect on their personal growth and self-awareness. In our classes, we've been working on several activities to help them understand and appreciate their unique qualities.
Activities in Class:
Islands of Personality: Inspired by the film "Inside Out," we discussed the concept of "Islands of Personality." Each child identified three islands that represent their core traits. We talked about how these islands are similar to each other, what makes them special, and what they are good at. This activity helped the children recognise and celebrate their individuality.
Our Strengths : Another activity focused on self-reflection. The children listed things they do well, areas they would like to improve, and skills they wish to develop further. This exercise encouraged them to set personal goals and work towards achieving them.
In Vipers, we explored the poem "Land of Blue," which delves into the theme of sadness. Here is the poem we have been reading and discussing in class:
