  • Welcome Back!

    Published 04/11/22, by Mel Harris

I hope you had a lovely half term and enjoyed some quality time with each other and some decent weather.

This week has been a busy one. We’ve started new topics in Maths and English as well as Science. I have attached a curriculum map for your information.

Our topic this term is Brilliant Biomes! Exploring plant and animal life in different parts of the world, we will be focussing particularly closely on the Savannah Grasslands and Deserts. I have attached a Knowledge Organiser for Brilliant Biomes to help you understand and perhaps talk about with your child. Our writing units will be closely linked to our topic as well.

Well… we made it through the first half term!

Hawking class have worked really hard over the past seven weeks and have produced some lovely work based around our coal mining topic.

Our next topic is based around BIOMES and we will be focusing particularly on deserts and savannah. As part of this (once we have finished The Nowhere Emporium) our class text will be Holes by Louis Sachar.

Congratulations to our final Golden Eggs of this half term: Milana and Bailie, both of whom show amazing attitude to their learning even when they find things tricky.

    Published 23/09/22, by Mel Harris

    Happy Friday Everyone!

I hope you’re all enjoying your extra day off.

Firstly, congratulations to our Golden Eggs from last Friday – Niamh and Mustafa – keep up the good work being model pupils.

As we are now 4 weeks into our new term and also have a couple of new members of the class, I thought it might be a good idea to repeat the information that I shared with you in our first BLOG.

    Important information

    • If I need to get in touch with you, I will either send you a text message or catch you at the end of the day. If you need to contact me, please catch me on the door after school or make an appointment with the school office.
    • Please ensure your child brings their book bag into school every day.
    • Our PE days will be Monday and Wednesday so your child will need to bring in their kit every Monday. We will also be taking part in drumming lessons on Tuesdays.
    • I will not be in the classroom on a Monday afternoon – the children will be taught by Mrs Lees on these afternoons.
    • Please check out our new behaviour and attendance policy if you have not already done so.

    Happy Friday Everyone!

Firstly, I’d like to say a huge well done to Hawking Class for working so hard for me this week. Their behaviour has been (almost) faultless and they’re showing excellent learning behaviours.

Homework is now on Doodle Maths and Doodle Spell, so please support your child to stay in the green zone on this. The spellings are linked to our spelling scheme and there will be a spelling test on Friday. The maths is linked to the work that we have covered in class this week. In addition to this, please encourage your child to read at least three times every week and to practise their Times Tables.
