A visit from storyteller Mike!

What a fantastic morning we had with Mike, learning how to tell stories.

On Friday, we were lucky enough to have a visit from storyteller Mike! Mike goes to all the schools across the Equals Trust and works with Y6 children, teaching them how to tell stories. Once Mike had told us a couple of stories, the children worked in groups to learn a story of their own. They were only given the basic outline of the story and they had to add the details themselves, including thinking about what the surroundings and characters would look like. They even had to think about voices their characters would have used!

The children worked with their group to practise the story and added some actions to make it come to life. All the children did an amazing job and gave it a go, even if they felt a bit nervous about performing their story in front of the rest of the class. Bertie, Niamh, Emaan and Queenie have been chosen to go to the next workshop and storytelling finale at Heymann in November. Well done storytellers!

Have a look at some pictures below, including practising the story by telling it to the wall or an object...
