End of Spring 2

We've had a busy last week of the Spring term in Y6! On Tuesday, we had a visit from some architects who are involved with the new cladding for the outside of the school. They gave a whole school assembly and talked to the children about climate change and sustainability. They explained how it's really important to make sure that buildings are sustainable and don't lose lots of heat. They did a special workshop with Y5 and 6 and talked to the children about insulation and how to make a building airtight. The children were challenged to make a sieve airtight by using different materials to cover the holes - we then tested them by pouring a whole jug of water through it! Finally, the children took part in a sketching workshop where they were asked to draw their idea of a dream school as well as a picture of what sustainability means to them. All of the children's drawings will be combined into a cladding panel which will be installed somewhere on the outside of the school building. Photos from Tuesday afternoon can be seen below.

On Thursday, Y5 and 6 took part in Easter massive maths and focused on discussing problem-solving questions with each other before working the answers out. Photos from this can also be seen below.

Finally, just a reminder that all children have received a revision pack for over Easter. I have also set practice SATs questions on Maths Shed and assignments on Doodle Maths and Spell. The intention is not for children to be working all the time, little and often is best - don't forget to relax too!

Have a lovely Easter break.
