Our new big idea- Big wide world

This half-term we are so excited to be introducing the children to the big wide world.  We are going to be exploring lots of different countries, including different ways to travel, lot of different animals and delicious foods. We will also be finding out what a zoo keeper does and what we use a map for.

Over the half-term we will also be learning the story of 'Peter and the Wolf' and we will be inventing our own version of the story.

Here is an overview of the big ideas for this half-term. We will be focussing on a couple of ideas each week and our weekly vocabulary will be linked to them.

If anyone is going to the zoo over Easter we would LOVE to see your pictures as we are going to be focussing on different types of zoo animals over the first few weeks.

How to help at home.

  • Look around at different types of animals. Could they name them?
  • If you are lucky enough to be going away on holiday, discuss how you are going to get there.
  • Looking at maps and identifying exciting things on them
  • Visit a zoo
  • Trying different foods they don't normally have.
