Wonderful Spring

Check out what Rashford Class have been up to so far this half-term.

Year 1 have had a great start to Summer 1. The weather has been beautiful, which has helped us in our learning about the seasons, weather and plants.

Homework Reminders

We have noticed a dip in the number of children completing their reading and Doodle Maths at home. It is very important for your child to engage in these activities at home, as they help consolidate the learning done in school. Regular engagement is highly beneficial to your child’s progress and will help them feel more confident with the foundations as they move into Year 2. Please feel free to come and speak to me if you have any questions or concerns.

Science
We learnt about the structure of different flowering plants, including plants that grow fruit! We had a great time dissecting a plant to identify and compare the roots, stem, leaves and petals.

Art
We learnt some new painting techniques called Brusho and marbling. We had lots of messy fun exploring using these techniques to create a background. We carefully chose the colours we wanted to use based on the emotions we were feeling at that time. In a few weeks' time, we will choose our favourite technique and use this to create a seasonal painting.

 Geography

Spring usually brings about lots of different types of weather, so we thought it would be a good time to bring out our class weather station. We can use this to observe and measure the weather and temperature. Check out our Rashford weather station outside the classroom near the vegetable patches!
