A busy first week back!

Wow! What a busy week we have had in Sea Lion class!

We have started our new topic 'Gods and Mortals' and have already shown such enthusiasm which is a pleasure to see. I have already received two topic homework projects which look wonderful on our topic wall! (please see previous post to find out topic homework).

In Literacy we have started our Poetry topic and have enjoyed learning about similes and metaphors. We have also started to look at a new text in Vipers called 'Who let the Gods out' by Maz Evans (please see link to find out more)-https://www.lovereading4kids.co.uk/book/13702/Who-Let-the-Gods-Out-by-Maz-Evans.html

In Maths we have been looking at division and have been using our times tables to help us. Doodle Maths has some great questions to help further their understanding.

In Science we started our new topic 'light and shadows' and the children came up with a list of questions they wanted to find out in this topic. They also carried out an experiment using their enquiry skills and learnt that there are many light sources, light travels in straight lines and darkness is the 'absence of light'.

In RE our topic is Islam and the children had the opportunity to find out about the clothing worn by Muslims, see the Quran and learn about their praying.

In PSHE we have been learning about what bullying is, the different forms of bullying and what we can do if we/or someone is being bullied. The children had the opportunity to role play scenarios to help their understanding.

In Art the children have started to design their own Greek mask and I can't wait to see the finished results!

What a great first week back Sea Lions!
