The Sea Lions become invertebrate hunters!

This afternoon Year 3 were invertebrate hunters! These are animals that have no backbone or spine. We looked high and low for a variety of creepy crawlies around the school field and nature trail. We had a list of bugs to look out for these included: snails, spiders, woodlice, centipedes, butterflies and bees. The Sea Lions used magnifying glasses to help identify these helpful creepy crawlies.

We then looked at ‘bug hotels’ these are man made structures built to create shelter for insects. Some of us even designed our own bug hotels using recycled materials! Click the link to find out more: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OexxoXo9uFk

I wonder if you could make a bug hotel or search for more invertebrates around your local area?

Take care,
