Welcome to Year 6!

The children have had a great start to Year 6.

We have had a really lovely first few days in Year 6 and the children have had positive attitudes towards everything.

We read our book about Ella Fitzgerald to learn more about our class name. We will be finding out a lot more about her this week before writing biographies. We also listened to some of her songs and then used song lyrics to create blackout poems. Have a look at some examples below!

Please find attached a topic letter to give you an overview of our first topic, 'A Child's War' which is all about World War II.

PE days are Tuesday and Thursday, please ensure your child has their kit in school.

Homework expectations:

- Stay in the green zone on Doodle maths and Doodle spell.

- Read at least 3 times per week and write it in their home/school book.

Spellings:

Weekly spelling lists will be uploaded to Doodle spell every Friday and tested the following Friday. Please make sure you are using Doodle spell to practise them. The first list will be uploaded this Fri 9th Sept and the first test will be Fri 16th September. There is also a copy of all lists for this half term attached to this blog.

Any questions, please ask.
