Mayan glyph artwork

Year 6 have been writing their names using Mayan glyphs today. It's quite a complicated process as you have to work out the sounds in your name first and then pair the consonants up with vowels before finding the correct glyph to use. Sometimes there is more than one glyph, so you can choose which one to use! The glyphs are then combined into one picture called a 'glyph block'.

To complicate matters even further, some of the letters in our alphabet didn't exist in Maya times so have to be replaced with something else. Have a look at our glyph blocks and what our names would say in Mayan writing below!
