World Book Day

World Book Day!

What a lovely day we had for World Book Day yesterday!

We had a whole school assembly in the morning and everyone wrote one line of a poem. We then connected them all together to make a whole school paperchain!

All the children were mixed up throughout the day and went to different members of staff around the school to complete poetry-related activities.

The children that came to the Year 6 classroom read a poem about a magpie from 'The Lost Words'. All of the poems in the book are acrostic poems about animals or plants. The children then wrote their own poems about a bird from the book, which they copied on to tracing paper. They then stuck their poem on top of an illustration of the bird so that the poem and the illustration can be seen together.

Have a look at all of the wonderful photos from the day here.
