Your child will be able to tell you which set of words they are learning.

The children have responded very well to learning their spellings each week and despite the groans when we say spelling test...... we make it fun for the children and they get a real buzz when they can see for themselves how well they have done.

All of the spelling homework that we send on a Friday to support that weeks spellings help to embed  the teaching we have done that week. We try to find a wide variety of homeworks so that the children use their spellings in a different and interesting way. Having looked over everyone's spelling folders during the holiday it was really positive to see that  when the homework is completed the child then had a great result on their spelling test. As a result the children feel great about themselves!

The children are given the whole week to do their spelling homework and folders should be brought every Friday ready for the spelling test. We send the spelling test results home each week so that you can see how your child got on. The children are involved in marking their own spellings as this is where identifying a mistake can actually help them remember it better the next time.

We do also give extra marks for joined up handwriting!
