Autism Awareness

Following on from our work about Stephen Wiltshire and raising awareness of Autism, one of our children asked to do an assembly to talk to us all about Autism. We are all incredibly proud of how she was so keen to talk to the whole school and to help us all to understand a little bit more about Autism. We were pleased to hear that several children went home that evening and told people at home all about the assembly!

The analogy of the buckets demonstrates how anxiety affects her brain compared with a non-autistic brain. The image was used in the assembly alongside physically putting balls in to two buckets to help the children's understanding.
