Year 3 had a fantastic time on Friday during Summer Massive Maths. They spent time tackling the ‘Mystery of the Melted Ice Cream At the Merryvale Fair’. Working in pairs, the children became maths detectives, using problem‑solving, reasoning, and the maths they’ve been learning to uncover who melted the ice cream.
The classroom was full of purposeful talk as pairs discussed clues, tested ideas, and used their calculations to eliminate suspects. It was brilliant to see them explaining their thinking clearly and working systematically to reach the final solution.
By the end, every pair had cracked the case! Proving just how powerful teamwork can be.
