Dear Year 3 Parents,
We are delighted to share the details of our upcoming Year 3 River Visit to the Perlethorpe Environmental Education Centre on Friday 8th May 2026. This visit links beautifully with our Rivers topic, and we cannot wait to bring the learning to life outdoors.
π§βπ Who Is Going?
All Year 3 children will be taking part in this exciting learning day, along with school staff.
π What Will the Children Be Doing?
The visit will give children the chance to explore a real river environment and deepen their understanding of our geography unit. Activities include:

- ποΈ Investigating river features
- π Pond dipping
- πΎ Learning about wildlife and habitats
- πΊοΈ Handsβon fieldwork linked to classroom learning

π When Is the Trip?
Friday 8th May 2026
Please ensure children arrive at school for 8:30am so we can leave promptly on coach.
We will return at approximately 3:30pm (traffic permitting) and children will be dismissed from the front playground. Those attending afterβschool club will be taken there as usual.
π Where Are We Going?
Perlethorpe Environmental Education Centre, Newark, Nottinghamshire.
This location offers excellent outdoor learning spaces with safe access to both river and pond areas.
π What Will Children Need?
π Clothing
- Warm outdoor clothes suitable for river activities
- A hoodie or old fleece
- Old tracksuit bottoms/trousers
- Waterproof jacket
π’ Footwear
- Old wellies (for going into the river)
- Clean shoes to change into afterwards
- Spare socks
𧦠Spare Clothing
A small bag with spare clothes in case they get wet.
π Lunch
- A named packed lunch
- A disposable drink
- Optional: sun cream and a hat if the weather is warm
π· Cost of the Trip
The cost is Β£15 per child, which covers transport and all educational activities.
Payment should be made through Arbor, and login/instalment details will be sent separately.
