As we come to the end of another fantastic school year, it is hard to believe how much we have achieved together. Year 3 has been packed with learning, adventures and wonderful memories.
One of the biggest milestones this year was moving from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 2. The children have shown incredible resilience, independence and determination, embracing new challenges and growing in confidence every day. I am so proud of everything they have accomplished.
Throughout the year, we have enjoyed many exciting educational visits and experiences. Our Stone Age topic came to life during our visit to Creswell Crags, where we explored prehistoric life and deepened our understanding of this fascinating period in history. We also learned more about rivers during our trip to Perlethorpe, taking our classroom learning into the great outdoors.
A real highlight for many children was our Beaumanor residential, where they challenged themselves, built friendships and created memories. The children showed fantastic teamwork, courage and enthusiasm throughout their stay. We also had a wonderful time on our trip to the pantomime, which brought lots of laughter and excitement to the festive season.
We have been fortunate to enjoy regular visits to the library and swimming pool throughout the year. A huge thank you to all of our volunteers who generously gave their time to support these visits. Without your help, these opportunities simply would not have happened, and we are incredibly grateful for your continued support.
There have been so many special events and themed weeks throughout the year. During Poetry Week, we explored and performed poetry, creating our own wonderful poems inspired by The Magic Box. On World Book Day, we focused on non-fiction texts and were amazed by the creativity shown in the children’s fantastic costumes.
At Christmas, the children shone during our Nativity performance, filling us all with festive cheer. We were also fortunate to welcome visitors from the British Geological Society, who helped bring our science learning to life.
The children engaged thoughtfully in Anti-Bullying Week, Mental Health Week and Healthy Living Week, learning valuable life skills and developing a greater understanding of themselves and others. During Art Week, we explored Henri Rousseau’s famous jungle painting Surprised! and used it as inspiration for our own colourful weaving projects. The children demonstrated great creativity and perseverance, producing some fantastic artwork.
To round off the year, we thoroughly enjoyed performing Treasure Island. The children impressed everyone with their confidence, enthusiasm and talent, making the performance a wonderful celebration of all they have achieved this year.
Most importantly, thank you to every single child for being such a wonderful part of Year 3. Your hard work, kindness, curiosity and laughter. It has been a privilege to watch you learn, grow and flourish.
As you move on to Year 4, I know you will continue to achieve amazing things. I wish you all the very best and hope you continue to shine in Year 4 with Miss Armstrong.
