Get ready for an out-of-this-world week in Foundation!

Next week, we will be blasting off into space as we learn all about rockets and astronauts through exciting stories, discussions, songs and creative activities. We will be sharing our ideas about space, exploring what astronauts do, and imagining what it would be like to travel among the stars!
We will be enjoying the wonderful stories Whatever Next! by Jill Murphy and Rocket Says Look Up! by Nathan Bryon. These books will inspire lots of imaginative thinking as we journey into space together.
We will also be singing our catchy space song, “5 Little Aliens in a Flying Saucer”, so don’t be surprised if you hear some alien tunes at home!
📝 National Poetry Day – Thursday 1st October
Next Thursday, we will be celebrating National Poetry Day by exploring acrostic poems inspired by nature and The Lost Words. The children will choose their own special “wild word” from the natural world and look closely at an illustration or photograph for inspiration. They will then create their own acrostic poem using descriptive words and ideas.
We are very excited that our finished poems will be proudly displayed in the school entrance hall for everyone to enjoy!

Thank you for your continued support in sharing stories at home and recording reading in your child’s reading diary. We greatly value the partnership between home and school, and the positive impact daily reading has on children’s confidence and progress. We are sure it won’t be long before some of our young readers begin achieving their Bronze Reading Award!
