Hello and welcome back!

We hope you all had a lovely half-term break with your families. As we begin the second half-term of Autumn, we would like to share some information about what to expect over the coming weeks! This half-term is packed with exciting learning opportunities, enrichment activities, and plenty of fun!

To help keep you informed, we’ve put together this blog with key updates on curriculum coverage, PE, homework expectations, and ways you can support us in school.

📚 Curriculum Highlights

This half-term, we’ll be exploring:

  • History: 1066 – what happened in 1066 and who were the important people during this time?
  • Science: Animals including humans – Life cycles, what we need to survive and how to stay healthy.
  • Class Text: The Owl who was afraid of the Dark.

🏠 Homework Expectations

Here’s a quick reminder of our weekly homework routines:

  • Reading: Please ensure your child reads at least 3 times a week at home. Don’t forget to sign their home-school reading record. You’re also warmly invited to join us in the Reading Lair to read together!
  • DoodleMaths & DoodleSpell: Children should aim to stay in the Green Zone by completing around 40 minutes of practice per week. Please focus on the ‘assignments’ as this is what we are working on in class.
  • Bronze Reading Challenge: Encourage your child to work towards their Bronze Challenge, found at the back of their reading record.
  • Class Blog: Keep an eye on our blog for regular updates and snapshots of our learning journey!

🏊 PE Days

  • PE: Every Wednesday and Friday afternoon with Mrs Wales. Please ensure kits are clearly labelled and brought in each week.
