Hello and welcome back!

We hope you all had a lovely Christmas break with your families. As we begin the Spring Term, we would like to share some information about what to expect over the coming weeks! This half-term is packed with exciting learning opportunities, enrichment activities, and plenty of fun!

To help keep you informed, we’ve put together this blog with key updates on curriculum coverage, PE, homework expectations, and ways you can support us in school.

📚 Curriculum Highlights

This half-term, we’ll be exploring:

  • History: How can one person change history?
  • Science: Every day materials and their uses
  • Class TextThe Twits
  • School Trip: To Tamworth Castle on Monday 22nd January

We will also be starting in school spellings each week this half term.

You can find the rules and spelling words attached to the blog below. We will also be adding these onto Doodle Spell and expecting the children to have a go at these at home.

🏠 Homework Expectations

Here’s a quick reminder of our weekly homework routines:

  • Reading: Please ensure your child reads at least 3 times a week at home. Don’t forget to sign their home-school reading record. You’re also warmly invited to join us in the Reading Lair to read together!
  • DoodleMaths & DoodleSpell: Children should aim to stay in the Green Zone by completing around 40 minutes of practice per week. Please focus on the ‘assignments’ as this is what we are working on in class.
  • Silver Reading Challenge: Encourage your child to work towards their Silver Challenge, found at the back of their reading record.
  • Class Blog: Keep an eye on our blog for regular updates and snapshots of our learning journey!

🏊 PE Days

  • PE: Every Wednesday and Friday afternoon with Mrs Wales. Please ensure kits are clearly labelled and brought in each week.
