Welcome to Y6!

Please find attached below the curriculum map for Autumn 1 which tells you everything we will be learning about this half term. Our history topic is WWII and next week on 11th September, we will be having a visit from Partake history. This will be a full day learning about what life was like during WWII, including looking at real artefacts, learning about evacuation and rationing, and what people did to keep their spirits up during the war. In order to allow us to have this fantastic experience, there will be a charge of £12 per child. A payment link will be sent to you via Arbor, please look out for this.

We will be reading a book called ‘When the Sky Falls’ by Phil Earle this half term. If you see a copy in a charity shop, it would be great for the children to be able to follow along whilst we’re reading it. Next half term, we will be reading ‘Oh Maya Gods’ by Maz Evans if you want to look out for that at the same time.

Homework

Children are expected to stay in the green zone for Doodle maths and Doodle spell as well as complete additional assignments when set. These are set specifically for your child and will relate to things we are learning in school.

PE

PE days are Tuesday and Thursday. Please ensure your child has their kit in school on these days.

During the Autumn term, Y5 and 6 will be taking part in the DAaRT life skills primary programme which is a ten week course and will finished with a graduation assembly which parents will be invited to. Please find attached below additional information about the DAaRT programme. We will also be holding a parent briefing on Monday 8th September at 3.30pm.

Please ask if you have any questions!
