Next week our big idea question is: “What animals live in the Jungle?”
We will be exploring jungle animals and discovering the amazing creatures that live in jungles around the world.
The children will learn that:
- 🐒 Monkeys swing through the trees to move around
- 🐯 Tigers have stripes to help them hide in the jungle
- 🐘 Elephants use their trunks to pick things up
- 🐾 Some animals use camouflage to hide from predators
We will be looking closely at animal fur, skin and patterns and trying to work out which jungle animal they belong to 🔍
Some of the fun things we will be doing to explore our ‘Big Idea’ Question:
- 🖐️ Printing animal patterns into playdough
- 🎨 Drawing jungle creatures (and labelling/writing about them in F2)
- 🌴 Exploring jungle small world play and creating our own jungle stories
- 🎭 Acting out jungle animal movements (slinking like a snake, stomping like an elephant)

- 🏃♂️ Next week (15th–19th June) is Healthy Living Week! We’ve got lots of fun and active activities planned (photos will be shared on Tapestry). Please can children come to school in their PE kits/active wear & trainers each day. PE kits should be black shorts, leggings or tracksuit bottoms with a red top – school jumpers and fleeces are absolutely fine too! 😊
- 🏅 EYFS Sports Day races are on Thursday 25th June at 10:30am. Please can children come to school in their PE kits for this day too.
