Children’s mental health week

To recognise children’s mental health week, Y6 took part in lots of activities thinking about themselves and what makes them unique. They thought about places where they feel they belong, which could be somewhere they like to go, somewhere that makes them feel safe or somewhere that is special to them. They also thought about their support network – who do they have around them that they can talk to? This could be people at home or in school, or even animals if this helps them share their worries! Have a look at some examples of what they came up with below:

The children took part in a gong bath, which aimed to allow them some time to switch off and be still. The different sounds of the gongs aimed to relax them and allow them to clear their minds without lots of busy thoughts. It can make you feel very cold during the gong bath, so the children had pillows and blankets to ensure they were comfortable. Whilst some were a little fidgety, most managed to remain still for the full 30 minutes – some were relaxed enough to fall asleep!
