On Thursday last week, it was National Poetry Day. The theme this year was ‘wonder’ and we decided to be inspired by a book called ‘The Lost Words’.

‘The Lost Words’ contains lots of acrostic poems about animals and plants and we looked at several different ones in Year 6 to inspire us. The children then chose their own plant or animal to write an acrostic poem about and they also did a lovely illustration to go with their poem. They wrote their poems up on tracing paper so we could stick the poems on top of their illustrations. Have a look at our beautiful work below and look out for a whole school display in the entrance hall soon!
