π Big Wide World…Β
This term, our Early Years children are setting off on an exciting journey to explore the big wide world around them! π§
We will begin close to home, helping children understand where they live, who they live with, and what makes their home special.
From there, weβll start to look beyond our immediate surroundings, discovering how we travel to places near and far… Whether thatβs walking to school, taking the bus, or flying on an aeroplane. πΆββοΈπβοΈ
As the term unfolds, children will explore maps relevant to them and simple routes, helping them begin to make sense of how places are connected πΊοΈ.
Weβll also be learning about different places around the world, noticing what is the same and what is different, and celebrating the diversity of our global community π
We will talk about where our food comes from, linking closely to our ‘talk for write’ story: Handa’s Surprise π
Through tasting, exploring, and hands-on activities, children will learn that food doesnβt just come from shops, it grows in different places around the world! π±
π Take a look at our Big Ideas Poster below to see the key questions and vocabulary that we will be exploring this term…
