Each class recently took part in an exciting democratic process to elect their two representatives for the School Council. Using a voting system inspired by parliamentary elections, pupils were invited to put themselves forward as candidates, explaining why they would make great councillors and how they could positively contribute to our school community.

After thoughtful speeches and careful voting, the new School Council members were chosen. These pupils will now represent the pupil voice  a vital part of our school’s decision-making and development.

Why is the pupil voice so important? The pupil voice empowers children to take an active role in shaping their learning environment. It helps build confidence, leadership, and a sense of responsibility. When pupils feel heard, they are more engaged, motivated, and proud of our school. It also ensures that decisions reflect the needs and ideas of those who experience school life every day.

Over the past few weeks, our School Council has been meeting fortnightly. So far, we’ve discussed:

  • The importance of the School Council
  • Their roles and responsibilities
  • Past projects and achievements

We’re incredibly excited to hear their ideas and suggestions for how we can continue to improve our school together. Their creativity, insight, and enthusiasm are already shining through and we can’t wait to see what they’ll accomplish!
